The traditional Dominican public school education does not offer experiential learning opportunities for its students. Conducting science experiments, creating art projects and integrating innovative technology into activities are not commonplace for a Dominican student. At DREAM, we strive to provide an intentional learning environment in which students are guided through their academic and personal development at their own pace in order to reach their potential. As such, we aim to improve Dominican students’ educational outcomes to create a better future for them and their families.
With this in mind, we developed a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) classroom! With the use of stations, students are able to break down their learning process in order to engage in specific tasks that allow them to work towards their goals. Students are free to navigate proposed solutions and know to rely on the scientific method to test theories and learn from their mistakes. As such, STEAM enables students to feel comfortable facing obstacles and to brainstorm solutions that benefit all.
