Orica fosters a passion for reading in rural communities of the Dominican Republic through DREAM Project’s “My Very Own Library” 

DREAM Project, in partnership with Orica, one of the world’s leading providers of mining and infrastructure solutions, continues to expand access to reading in vulnerable communities. As part of a three-year agreement between the two organizations, the My Very Own Library (MVOL) program will be implemented in rural public schools, including Pueblo Viejo, Sánchez Ramírez.

DREAM Project and Orica Join Forces to Promote Reading in Pueblo Viejo, Sánchez Ramírez 

DREAM Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing high-quality educational opportunities and promoting reading among children, youth, and families in the Dominican Republic, joined forces with Orica, one of the world's leading mining and infrastructure solutions providers, to host a book fair at the Arroyo Vuelta rural primary school in Pueblo Viejo, Sánchez Ramirez, themed “Book Safari,” as part of the DREAM Project’s "Mi Propia Biblioteca" (My Very Own Library) program.

DREAM Project Appoints Board President and New Executive & Deputy Directors 

The DREAM Project, a north-coast non-profit founded in 1995 that serves over 7,000 children and youth each year, is thrilled to announce that Catherine DeLaura, DREAM’s long-time Executive Director, will become the non-profit’s Board President.

Dr. Cledenin Veras, an experienced educational professional, will be DREAM’s new Executive Director, effective November 1, 2023. Ms. Laura Sundquist, Peace Corps Education Program Manager for the past seven years, will also join DREAM as Deputy Director.

The DREAM Project and Cigar Country Announce the DREAM Montessori Prize

The DREAM Project and Cigar Country have partnered to promote a sustainable early learning system in the Dominican Republic, based on the Montessori Method and best practices in early childhood care and education. With this partnership, the DREAM Montessori Prize arises, which features two prizes: a first place will receive the provision of equipment, furniture, materials and support and training for two years to install a Montessori classroom; a second place will receive a classroom library, which includes custom shelves and a variety of dynamic, age-appropriate children's books.
