Yo he participado en DREAM por mucho tiempo. Quiero decir algo de una persona quien yo conocí en DREAM. Se llama Laura y la conocí en el año 2008. Cuando la conocí, yo no sabía leer. Ella trabajaba mucho conmigo acerca de leer. A veces, me puse enojada de estudiar y yo diría que yo no podía hacer el estudio más. Pero Laura no me deja. Laura me dijo que nunca pienses negativo, solamente positivo. Ella me dio una mascota para practicar la escritura y las letras. Ahora, yo sé leer porque Laura me ayudaba. A veces, yo lloro porque ella no esta aqua. Pero estoy contenta porque me enseñé leer y pensar positiva siempre.”
“My name is Marleni. I am 12 years old. I study at Colonia Nueva. My favorite animal is the dog and my favorite color is green. To me, school is important because I can learn a lot.
I have participated in DREAM for a long time. I want to say something about a person whom I met in DREAM. Her name is Laura and I met her in 2008. When I met her, I could not read. She worked a lot with me to help improve my reading. Sometimes studying made me angry and I would say I didn’t want to study anymore. But Laura would not let me. Laura told me to never think negative – only positive. She gave me a notebook to help me practice writing letters. Now, I know how to read because Laura helped me. Sometimes I cry because she is not here. But I’m glad because she taught me to read and always think positive.”
