IMMEDIATE HELP:

LONG-TERM SUPPORT:

  • The DREAM Caraballo Montessori Program and DREAM Caraballo Young Stars Program. These sustainable, long term solutions to the large community of Haitians in Caraballo will have a stabilizing effect on the inevitable influx of Haitian refugees into the Dominican Republic. Much like Haiti before the earthquake, this community is already in a state of emergency and your support for these projects will help lay the foundation for the future of this community.
  • The DREAM Project will continue to collect any material dontations (see list below) and deliver them through our partnering non profits, ensuring they get to the right place.

WHAT WE'VE ACCOMPLISHED:

  • Read the recently released reports from Mano Amiga Haiti: CROIX DES BOURQUETS and PORT-AU-PRINCE March & April
  • Made three trips to deliver supplies to Mano Amiga Haiti
  • Sent over 40 boxes and bags of supply donations worth over $12,000 to Mano Amiga Haiti
  • Millwoods Christian School, in combination with the Canadian Government, raised and sent approximately $15,000US to DREAM towards Haiti Relief, with an additional amount of about $15,000 going towards the DREAM Caraballo Preschool and Young Stars program, aimed at supporting the Haitian, Haitian Dominican and Dominican residents of that impoverished community
  • Raised over $850 from the Art Show, $730 from the flea market
  • Raised a total of over $20,500 cash towards Haiti relief

DONATIONS: We will be collecting both monetary and supply donations to go towards the Haiti relief effort. The DREAM Project is on a short list of non-governmental organizations with the US Embassy that will be coordinating the collection of supplies for Haiti. At this time, since only a few organizations are being allowed to cross to Haiti, all collected goods will be delivered to a trustworthy organization in Santo Domingo for further transportation into Haiti. Monetary donations will be used towards transportation costs (gas, bus fare, shipping, etc.). Please, do not drive donations to the border yourself.

The best way to donate items from outside the Domincan Republic is to bring them with you when you fly down. Unfortunately, we cannot receive donations shipped to the Dominican Republic due to the exorbitant costs and taxes required to get donations out of customs, and the tendency for items to be stolen, lost or damaged in transit. At this time, supply donations may only be hand-delivered by individuals or groups. Please consider making a monetary donation to go towards supplies for Haiti instead.
